9 September 2011, Leamington Spa, UK: Yotta DCL, the UK’s leading highways surveying company, today announced it has signed a contract for 2011/2012 with Wakefield Council to carry out a video inventory survey of Wakefield’s A, B and C roads and a DVI survey. Yotta DCL has been providing inventory surveys to Wakefield since 2010 and is delighted to be strengthening this relationship.

The video survey will be carried out using one of Yotta DCL’s bespoke video capture vehicles which survey the roads at normal traffic speeds of up to 70mph and takes street level images. Video-based inventory surveys provide a number of benefits for Local Authorities including the fact they are fast, safe and cost effective and provide a visual record of the network. This allows Local Authorities to maximize the life of their assets, understand trends and better target their maintenance budget and schedule.

Yotta DCL has been conducting Visual Inspections for Local Authorities for over 15 years and operates a fleet of survey vehicles. Condition data is collected using our UKMPS accredited software and all our surveyors are UKPMS accredited. CVI surveys are a cost-effective tool for Local Authorities to highlight areas of the network that need further investigation and to carry out carriageway valuation in asset management on Unclassified roads.

15 August 2011, Leamington Spa, UK: Yotta DCL, one of the UK’s leading highways surveying company, today announced it has signed a contract for 2011/2012 with Consulting and Business Services Group, Mouchel, who are acting on behalf of Shropshire Council to carry out a CVI survey of over 500kms of Shropshire’s U roads.

Managing Director, Nick Smee, commented: “Yotta DCL have been providing visual surveys to Local Authorities for over 15 years. CVI surveys represent an easy way to collect condition data across large distances of road in a cost effective and timely manner and our experienced team of CVI surveyors are all accredited under the UKPMS scheme.”

This new contract represents a new phase in Yotta DCL’s relationship with Cumbria County Council. Yotta DCL has not worked directly for the council before but has carried out Asset Inventory Surveys for Cumbria Highways, a partnership between Cumbria County Council, Amey and Connect Roads and which work together on behalf of the County Council. Under the terms of today’s agreement, Yotta DCL’s Scanner vehicles will carry out comprehensive condition surveys of approximately 4,784 miles (7,700km) of highway network, covering everything from major routes to minor rural roads.

4 July 2011, Leamington Spa, UK: Yotta DCL, the UK’s leading highways surveying company, announces it has signed a contract with the Newcastle City Consortium to carry out its entire road network surveying work. The contract will run for three years.

The Newcastle City Consortium is made up of 5 local authorities from Tyne & Wear and 5 from Tees Valley and today’s new contract builds upon successful work already carried out by Yotta DCL in this region. Since 2006, Yotta DCL has had a long standing relationship with members of the Consortium and has undertaken SCANNER and Visual Surveys fo members of the Tyne & Wear Local Authorities which includes Newcastle City, Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside & North Tyneside Councils and for members of the Tees Valley Local Authorities including Middlesbrough, Stockton on Tees, Redcar & Cleveland, Darlington & Hartlepool Councils.

At the event, there will be presentations on localism and its impact on Highway Maintenance and Asset Management in an austere age. There will be Local Authority Case Studies from Walsall Borough Council, Surrey County Council and Staffordshire County Council.
