Highways Surveyor

Location: Various locations in the North East of England
Position: Temporary (6 month contract)
Salary: £15,000 – £25,000 per annum, depending on productivity level

Position Summary:
This is a field based role, so you are required to be mobile. You will be undertaking UKPMS and other highway surveys. This includes identifying items of the highway such as inventory/assets (street furniture) and/or highway defects and accurately recording them into a handheld computer.

This shall include correctly identifying the location of all listed items, mapping information, assessing when problems occur in these details and taking the appropriate corrective action. Surveys may be driven or walked.

Successful (permanent) candidates will be offered the opportunity to gain a UKPMS Surveying Accreditation.

All staff must ensure that the company’s environmental policy is adhered to.

Required Skills:

• Full, clean UK driving licence
• Exclusive use of own vehicle
• Excellent computer literacy, including MS Word and Excel
• Good eye for detail to identify errors
• Logical approach to problem solving
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Flexibility to work to meet the business needs.

Desirable Skills (not essential, but would be advantageous):

• Experience of highway surveying
• Experience of using handheld devices
• UKPMS Course Visual Inspection/ Detailed Visual Inspection Accreditation.

Working Hours:

• 37.5 hours per week excluding lunch breaks, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm.
